Today marks the beginning of the end of an era: the kick-off show of the final leg of George Strait's "The Cowboy Rides Away" tour. Country Weekly says GS is "getting a little emotional" about the tour. I guess you could say the same for me.
George Strait has been my ultimate favorite since I was born in 1981, the same year his first single (Unwound) was released. His concert was the first I ever attended--at the Kansas Coliseum when I was in 3rd grade. I've lost count of how many times I've seen GS perform, but since graduating from college, his shows have come to mean so much more than just going to a concert. It's become a tradition for my brother and me to attend one of King George's concerts each year, often times with the Wheelocks and/or Packards in tow.
2005: Kansas City
I know we have photos from this concert, but they must be on a computer or external drive that is somewhere other than Dallas. :( It was a family affair...Mom, Dad, Landon & me. One of these days I'll find those pictures.

Upcoming 2014: Dallas, Texas
King George obviously knows how to throw a going away party. The line-up for his June 7, 2014 final show at AT&T Stadium (Cowboys Stadium) is unbelievable....

We've got tickets in hand, which was quite a challenge in itself, and I desperately hope we can get the whole crew together for this one. It's going to be bittersweet...the ending of an era, the closing of a tradition...but also one-helluva-show! I'd be willing to bet my life savings that King George won't disappoint.
