My First Valentine's Day as Mrs. Martin

I'm not much of a morning person {i.e. cranky, borderline hateful, big baby!}, I'm just gonna go ahead and openly admit that...

My beyond-understanding, amazingly-patient husband took a risk on Valentine's Day morning by popping into the bathroom as I was getting ready for work with a glass of orange juice, a cute little gift bag and a bright red envelope.

I couldn't help but smile.

As anxious as a little girl on Christmas morning, I asked, "Are you sure you want me to open this now?" {I'm not sure what I would have done if he had said no.} First I read his sweet card, maybe even shed a tear or two...I'm sentimental like that. I opened up the gift bag and found bags of my current favorite candies {Riesens chocolate and Red Vines licorice...Sorry, there are no photos available because those bags have already been busted open to sample the contents}. He informed me I needed to look further in the gift bag, and I found a small jewelry box containing a necklace with my new monogram!

The absolute perfect gift for my first Valentine's Day as Mrs. Martin! Love that man so much!

That wasn't the end of our Valentine's Day celebration though. {Have I mentioned that my husband is an A-MAZing cook???}  It's a good thing this isn't a foodie blog because my food photos need some work...but he made a delicious "surf and turf" dinner of steak and lobster {which I kept confusing with crab...ugh, still learning as he patiently works to expand my palate} with a baked potato. Oh...and we also had chips and homemade guacamole for an appetizer...not because it went well with the meal, but because he knows that I love love love chips and guac/salsa {with every meal, or FOR every meal}.

I had no idea how to get the meat out of that lobster...
Good thing I have someone to do all the hard stuff for me!
Exquisite dinner...better than any restaurant!

I'll admit it: I'm totally spoiled!  I'm so incredibly grateful to be married to such an amazing man who genuinely makes me a better person.  As I wrote in his Valentine's card: "for better or worse, but never for granted!"

Thank you, Ryan, for making this Valentine's Day one that I'll always remember. Thank you for being my Valentine for life. I love you!
