Five on Friday

It's been a busy week! A good busy week though! Summer is in full love love the warm {hot!} weather! The "Five on Friday" link-up is taking a summer break, but I'm a creature of habit and really like posting about five things going on in my life each Friday, and so it continues in my world...

One: Livin' on Tulsa Time

I've been in Tulsa since Wednesday for work meetings. It's been a good trip...I work with some pretty fabulous {and brilliant} people...but I'm ready to go home!

City of Tulsa

Two: The NBA Draft

I've gotta give shoutouts to my beloved Jayhawks who were drafted last the FIRST and THIRD picks overall!  CONGRATULATIONS to Andrew Wiggins, #1 pick and going to the Cleveland Cavaliers.  And another big CONGRATS to Joel Embiid, #3 pick and headed to Philadelphia to play for the 76ers! So proud {as always!} to be a Kansas Jayhawk! ROCK CHALK!

Kansas Jayhawks in NBA Draft,

Three: Weekend Visitors

My sister-in-law, Kelli, has meetings in the Dallas-area this weekend...and guess who she's bringing with her! Only the cutest nephew on the planet! I'm so excited and literally can't wait to see this lil guy and his mommy...

Nais...I love him just a little bit!

Nais and his mommy {Kelli}

Abbey is playing in some important golf event next week in Dallas, so she's coming down early to work with Ryan and play some practice rounds. I'm super excited that she's bringing her sister {my BFF} with her! Yay for having Lindsay and Abbey staying with us for the next few days!

Abbey & Lindsay

Four: Work, Work, Work...

Lil Midget Max has been really busy this week...responding to emails and surfing the internet. How flippin' cute is this pic?

Sure makes this godmother proud! I'm in search of a BIG calculator...gotta get him started on 10-key training soon!

Five: Restoration Hardware

Restoration Hardware is obviously trying to make a B.I.G. {heavy} statement with their recent 11.6-pound shipment of catalogs. Yes, I weighed it.  11.6 pounds. No joke. AND it was shipped via UPS. I can't imagine how much it must have cost to send out these pretty lil gems...

Maybe one of these days I'll find the time to browse through this stack of novels.

Thanks for stopping by for my "Five on Friday!"

Have a great weekend!

Leslie Loves...{1.16}

Today's "Leslie Loves..." post is dedicated to one single item.

An item that I've been wanting for A.LONG.TIME, but I was adamantly opposed to paying $15 for shipping {I try to avoid paying any amount for shipping, but I refuse to pay > $10!}. Anyway, none of that really matters right now because it's available with FREE SHIPPING through this weekend! Let me introduce you to my current obsession...

GiGi New York Uber Clutch

Sand Uber Clutch - Embossed Python

You may remember that I included this fabulous clutch in the "Leslie Loves..." post on spring/summer handbags. There are so many reasons to love this bag: the size {it's a little bigger than most clutches}, you can personalize it with your monogram, and it's available in a gazillion colors. Not only is shipping free, but GiGi New York is also offering free personalization through this weekend!

Spring Python Collection

If the Uber Clutch is a little bigger than you'd like, then the All in One Bag is for you! Deciding which size you want is the first challenge...just wait until you have to choose a color! Decisions, decisions...I'll take one of each, please!

And in case you're looking for some extra cash to purchase this necessity, I've got the solution...enter to win our $200 PayPal cash giveaway {it closes tonight at midnight, so hurry!}.

Wedding Wednesday: How We Met

I love these "Wedding Wednesday" posts because it allows me to share events that took place before this little bloggety-blog existed. {And perhaps I just love talking about The.Best.Day!} Today I'm going back to when it all began by sharing "his and hers" versions of how we met.

McGowan Images Photography

How We Met (Leslie's Version):

We were introduced through mutual friends, the Campbell family. I'd say it was pretty much a set-up because I'd been hearing about how I needed to meet this "hot golf pro" for at least a year prior to actually meeting him. {Sidenote: Ryan is Abbey Campbell's golf coach, and Abbey is the younger sister of one of my best friends (Lindsay, bridesmaid).} The entire Campbell family was in Dallas for Abbey's golf tournament and invited me to join them for dinner. When I arrived, I was surprised that "the hot golf pro" was going to dinner too!

A few days later I got a text from "Ryan" {Abbey may or may not have sent the text from his phone when he wasn't looking!} saying it was nice to meet me and that we should hang out again some time. We talked occasionally through text messages over the next few months. Ryan will say it was a lot of work to catch my interest and sometimes a couple of days went by before I would respond to his texts. However, the truth is that I was just really busy with work and didn't have time for anything, let alone a "long distance relationship." The texts eventually evolved into multiple-hour phone conversations, which says quite a lot considering how much I typically dislike talking on the phone. All of the texting and late-night phone conversations led to meeting in person {nearly six months after we first met}, and we "officially" starting dating Labor Day weekend of 2011.

McGowan Images Photography

How We Met (Ryan's Version):

I was in Texas to watch Abbey play golf.  I went to dinner with the Campbells and was suprised to find out that Lindsay had invited her college roommate {Leslie}. We didn't really hit it off that well that evening, but it was the day after St. Patty's Day, so I'll just blame it on her hangover. Once I got back home, I got her number from Abbey and "with her help," I started my courtship.  It took about four months, but she finally gave me some attention and we started talking on the phone...and we have talked every day since.

And there you have it...the beginning of "our story!"

The Sunshine Award is a lot like the Liebster Award. I take that back...the Sunshine Award is exactly the same as the Liebster Award...well, except for the whole name thing. It is a way for bloggers to promote other blogs to their know, just spreading a little blog love around the World.Wide.Web. Although it was hard nearly impossible to come up with 11 new random facts about myself/questions for my nominees, I did it all in the name of blog love {plus I was terrified of having seven years of bad luck if I didn't pass it on}. Two: Father's Day

I am so incredibly thankful for the close relationship I have with my dad. He's been an amazing role model my entire life and has paved the way for me to achieve my own successes. When someone tells me I'm a lot like my dad, I take that as a genuine compliment. I've found his unwavering drive and perfectionist tendencies to be my best attributes at times while being my biggest flaws at other times. Thank you, Dad, for helping to mold me into the person I am today!  Happy Father's Day...I love you!

This is the first year I've had a father-in-law to celebrate on Father's Day. I'm very grateful for Ryan's dad, Brock. He and JoAnn {Ryan's sweet mom} raised a son that I adore and am blessed to call my husband. I'm thankful to have joined such a great family.  Happy Father's Day, Brock!

My Granddad. He may be a man of few words, but he's also the most honest, genuine, hard-working, loyal man I know. Happy Father's Day, Granddad!

I'm excited for my brother to celebrate his first Father's Day as a dad. Watching my "baby brother" interact with his own baby has been pretty incredible. He's an amazing dad! It's so obvious to see the joy that Nais has brought into his life. Happy 1st Father's Day, Landon!

    Three: Miranda Lambert

Have you seen the cover of Rolling Stone magazine?

    Or these photos?

Holy hottness! I'm obsessed. Although I've never been motivated to work out in my entire life, I've now found my inspiration/motivation.

    Four: Rachael's Birthday

My BFF turned 31 on Wednesday {June 11}, so we had a quick little celebratory dinner {Mexican food, of course!}.

Left Photo: Bree, Rachael & Me; Right Photo: Tina & Rachael

Lil Midget Max. It's not that he didn't L.O.V.E. the cupcake,
he was just angry that his momma took away his Bubble Guppies movie!
    "Terrible Twos" a bit early?!!?

    Five: Texas Necklace

Speaking of Rachael, she surprised me last weekend with this fabulous Texas necklace.

    Gypsy Wagon Jewelry
Texas Necklace from The Gypsy Wagon
    Similar versions here

She says it's a "thank you for coordinating everything GS concert related" gift. Although it was absolutely unnecessary and totally unexpected, I love love love it! {Thank you, Rachael, for the awesome thank you gift!} She has one too, and we both wore them to the BEST.CONCERT.EVER, so I guess it's kinda like our version of a BFF necklace.

Thanks for stopping by for my "Five on Friday!"

    Have a great weekend!

    The Cowboy Rode Away...{With a Little Piece of My Heart}

Back in January I said I'd be willing to bet my life savings that George Strait's final show wouldn't disappoint {see that post here}. That may have been the safest wager I've ever made. To say it was EPIC would be an understatement. The King of Country Music's final show was truly the concert of a lifetime.

    Record-Breaking. {Literally...the crowd of 104,793 fans blew the previous indoor concert attendance record out of the water!}

    Nothing will ever compare.

George Strait, Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Faith Hill
    King George...with a little back-up support from
Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride and Faith Hill

Disclaimer: Most of the pictures taken inside of the stadium have an orange tint {yeah, pretty much everyone looks like an oompa loompa!}...I hope you can somewhat overlook the poor quality and my terrible photography skills and enjoy the pics.

Hold up! Let's rewind to Saturday morning so I can completely relive this fabulous day as I type...

After a little bit of shopping in the morning, the girls hit the DryBar to get pretty for King George...

A HUGE thank you to my generous mom for  paying for our blowouts! What a nice surprise!
    Thanks, Vick!

A quick outfit-change and we were ready to go...

We did a little pre-gaming en route to the big show. We made a few stops along the way to pick up the rest of our party....

    We weren't really sure what to expect once we got to the concert. On one hand we'd heard that each of the other artists was going to sing three of his/her own songs before GS came on stage to perform. Then on Saturday morning, all of the radio stations were saying that George was going on at 7:00 pm and that the other artists would join him for duet-type performances. Turns out the latter was how it actually went down...and it was P.E.R.F.E.C.T! Each artist joined George on stage to perform two of his songs. {Sidenote: I may have had to reference this article to help me remember the exact order of the set list...turns out consuming lil' cans of Sofia champagne doesn't really help to improve my memory!}

King George opened the show with "Check Yes or No" followed by "A Fire I Can't Put Out."

The first guest to join GS on stage was Vince Gill.  Together they sang "Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind" and "Lovebug."

The Cowboy Rides Away Final Concert, Cowboys Stadium, Dallas, TX

George then played "River of Love" and "Lead On."

Jason Aldean came on to sing "Fool Hearted Memory" and "Nobody In His Right Mind Would Have Left Her."

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

Even Bubba took the stage with his dad to sing the song he wrote, "Arkansas Dave."

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

Then GS played one of my favorites, "I Saw God Today."

I might have a little crush on Eric Church, so needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed these two coming together to sing "Cowboys Like Us" and "Easy Come, Easy Go."

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

George then played "The King of Broken Hearts" and "Marina Del Rey."

Now let's talk for a minute about Sheryl Crow. She's 52 years old and flippin' GORGEOUS! Sign me up for whatever skincare regimen she's using because IT.WORKS! She took the stage with George to sing "When Did You Stop Loving Me" and "Here for a Good Time."

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

GS then performed "I Can Still Make Cheyenne" and "Drinkin' Man."

I've got a special place in my heart for Kansas-girl Martina McBride. She's truly timeless and 100% classy! It was no surprise that she and George teamed up to pay tribute to Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash {"Jackson"} and George Jones and Tammy Wynette {"Golden Ring"}.

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

George again had the stage to himself to play "Give It Away" and "I Got a Car."

Faith Hill performed "A Showman's Life" and "Let's Fall to Pieces Together" with King George.

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

Next up was "I Believe" and "Blame It On Mexico."

Of course Alan Jackson was there to sing "Murder on Music Row" with George. He also joined GS for one of the classics, "Amarillo By Morning."

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

    And then he played "The Chair." ...And I cried. {It's my ultimate favorite...duh!}

I've gotta say, my makeup weathered the tears pretty well...

The next song he played was "Give It All We Got Tonight."

Miranda Lambert {looking smokin' hotttt, by the way} performed "How 'Bout Them Cowgirls" and "Run" with George.

    The Cowboy Rides Away Tour

After Miranda left the stage, George played "You Look So Good In Love" and "I'll Always Remember You." A few tears welled up in my eyes...not gonna lie.

Kenny Chesney came on stage for "Ocean Front Property" and "The Fireman." What a combination...two of my favorite artists singing two of my favorite songs!

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

King George closed the regular set with "Troubadour" and "Unwound."

The crowd was soooooo loud as every single fan stayed in their seat waiting for George to come back last time. All of the artists came back on stage for the encore...pretty cool to see all of those great country stars supporting King George as he ended his touring era. Everyone joined in for "All My Exes Live in Texas" and "Folsom Prison Blues."

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

The Cowboy Rides Away tour, Cowboys Stadium

I don't think I can pinpoint one single point that was my FAVORITE moment of the night, but I did L.O.V.E. when he quoted Arnold Schwarzenegger {"I'll be back!"} just before he began to sing "The Cowboy Rides Away."

...And yes, there might have been a few tears again.

It was an incredible night...hands down, the best concert I have ever attended {or ever will!}.

Thanks for the ride, George...there have been a lot of memories made at your shows over the years! And if you'll be back, then I'll be there!
