Bumpdate: 23 Weeks

Due Date: August 5, 2015

How far along?: 23 weeks, 5 days

Gender: It's a BOY!

Total weight gain:  No update this week, as I haven't been near the scale. I'm waiting until next week's dr. appointment to weigh in...hopefully it'll be a manageable number!

Stretch marks?: None that I can see...but I'm starting to see signs of the linea nigra. The vertical line is still pretty faint, but it's visible.

Symptoms: The feet-swelling has mostly subsided {I've been trying to walk a lot more and keep them elevated as much as possible}, but the nighttime leg cramps are back with a vengeance. The actual cramps are fairly short-lived {although it seems like an eternity when it's happening}, but sometimes when I get out of bed in the mornings my entire calf starts aching the moment I put any weight on it.  A friend suggested I put a bar of white soap {not Dove} at the foot of my bed and to even place it directly on the cramp when it hits to reduce the cramps/relieve the pain. I haven't tried this yet {of course the only bars of soap we have throughout the entire house are Dove!}, but I am definitely going to test this home remedy...I'll keep you posted on how it works!

Maternity clothes?:  It's either maternity clothes or stretchy pants/shorts {around the house}. When I was packing my bag to go to Kansas this past weekend, I realized how much faster the packing process is when you only have a limited number of clothing options that actually fit. I'm very lucky that I've got a pretty good selection of maternity clothes to choose from {thank you so much to my fabulous friends who are letting me borrow some pieces!}, and I keep them in a separate closet so I don't get sad when I look in our master closet crammed full of my pre-pregnancy clothes {all of which happen to be much cuter now that they won't fit over the baby bump!}. Anyway, having the maternity clothes in a separate closet has made getting dressed every morning so much more efficient.

Sleep:  I'm starting to feel tired again...not nearly as exhausted as I was throughout the first trimester, but I can feel my energy starting to wane a bit. I don't have any trouble falling asleep at night, but I'm a very restless sleeper {this really has nothing to do with being pregnant because I've always been this way}, so staying asleep is the problem. I wake up several times each night, but for now, it doesn't take very long for me to fall back to sleep.

Mood: I think I've been pretty even-tempered this past least in my head it seems that way. I can't remember anything specific that resulted in tears or major frustration, so I'll call it a win in the mood department.

Movement: Our little guy is wiggling around a lot these days! I've decided he must HATE when I lie on my left side because that is guaranteed to get a few kicks/jabs. Ryan has been able to feel him moving several times too...pretty cool experience, to say the least!

Nursery: I can finally say we've made a little progress on this...we bought a crib! Now we've just got to get rid of the bedroom set that is currently filling the room that will be his nursery. Know anyone who needs a queen-size bed?!!?  

Best Moment of the Week: Visiting my family in Kansas. It's always nice to go "home"...even if it is just a quick trip. Plus, I got to love on this little guy while I was there...

...Or at least stall us from leaving! It worked for a minute! 

Looking Forward To: Although I have no idea what I'm going to wear over this expanding bump, I'm super excited to attend the ACM Awards this coming weekend!
