Bumpdate: 40 Weeks

I never imagined I'd be writing this blog post...I just assumed our sweet baby boy would be here by now. Guess we all know what happens when you assume...

Dear Baby Huston,

Today's the day we've been anxiously awaiting and preparing for: your due date! The day you are supposed to make your entrance into this world. Your daddy and I are so ready to meet you, so feel free to come at any time. No, seriously...the sooner, the better!

Love,
Your Momma

Due Date: August 5, 2015

How far along?: 40 Weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Name: Huston Robert  {more details here}

Total weight gain:  Up another pound over the past week...so much for the promise that you're supposed to lose weight at the end of pregnancy! {It must have bypassed me kinda like the long, thick, beautiful hair you're supposed to have during pregnancy!} All in all, I'm up about 37-38 pounds.

Stretch marks?: None that I can see. I've really been lathering on the Bio-Oil and St. Ives lotion here at the end in hopes that it will prevent the stretch marks from appearing after delivery.

Symptoms: Nothing new...which is disappointing to me. I was soooo hoping to be partially dilated at Monday's OB appointment, but my cervix is still fully closed. I guess the little guy is cozy in there and not quite ready to make his entrance into this big, scary world.

Maternity clothes?:  I rotate among a very small selection of clothes over and over and over again. A couple of dresses, maternity yoga capri pants/tank tops, Ryan's shorts/t-shirts.

Sleep:  Everyone tells me that I need to be sleeping as much as I possibly can before he arrives...but apparently they've forgotten {or have never experienced} how impossible it is to sleep when your belly is the size of a LARGE watermelon {or 2!}...AND that watermelon feels like it is sitting directly on your bladder!

Cravings:  Just the same 'ole, same 'ole: watermelon and snow cones. I've found a new flavor mix of snow cones though...clearly strawberry and wedding cake. They're both clear, so I don't have to worry about my lips/teeth turning some crazy color!

Workouts: I'm starting to consider just getting dressed in the mornings as a workout in itself. A friend suggested I bounce on an exercise ball to help spur the labor process, so I'm now using a big green exercise ball in place of my office chair! That has to count for something, right???

Exercise ball has replaced my desk chair.
P.S. How cute is my office assistant? She's the best in town!

Mood: I cried after we left the doctor's office on Monday because I was so disappointed that my body hadn't made any progress toward labor/delivery. I'm going to blame part of that on just being overly-tired though because I came home, took a short nap, and felt MUCH better after a little rest. I totally believe that he'll come when he's ready, and I'm trying very hard to let go of trying to plan/control the situation. I'm pretty sure he already knows his momma might be a bit high-strung, so he's already trying out his skills at testing my patience.

Movement: I can usually count on him moving if I'm lying still on my left side {that's been the case for as long as I've been able to feel him move}. He tends to move the most in the evenings when I've got my feet up...or maybe that's just when I've slowed down enough to truly notice all the movements. He's still the most responsive to his daddy's voice.

Next Steps: If he hasn't made his debut by next Tuesday {August 11}, we'll have a sonogram to check the amniotic fluid and to measure his size. At that point, we'll decide if we need to schedule an induction or continue to wait for him to arrive naturally. This momma is hoping we won't need that appointment!

Wedding Rings:  Off. I've had them off for the past couple of weeks just because I was worried they "might" get stuck...but my fingers are now swollen to the point that I can't even get them over my knuckles. :(

Belly Button: In.

Looking Forward To: I absolutely, positively cannot wait to meet our baby boy!
