Bumpdate 2.0: 27 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 27 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Total weight gain:  I haven't stepped on the scale since last week. I guess I'll find out at next week's OB appointment.

Stretch marks?: None that I can see!

Symptoms: A few nights ago I'm pretty sure this tiny baby boy was laying directly on my bladder...or at least it felt like that. I would go to the bathroom, and then approximately 2.5 minutes later, it felt like I needed to go again. Thank goodness he shifted because that wasn't much fun!

Maternity clothes?:  All day, every day. I've noticed my feet have been swelling a bit toward the middle of the afternoon when I wear heels, so don't be surprised when you see me in flats/sandals 85% of the time!

Sleep:  Sleep comes easy and is good...when Huston allows it! Big brother hasn't been sleeping very well since he started "school" a few weeks ago {separation anxiety??}, so it seems like Momma ends up sleeping on the couch with him or falling asleep in the rocking chair at some point every.single.night. We're really going to focus on transitioning to his big boy bed in the next week or so, and I'm praying that helps him get back to sleeping all night every night!

Cravings:  Gimme ALL the fruit! Watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, apples, oranges...I cannot get enough. We're making frequent runs to the grocery store to stay stocked up on fruit since Huston and I both eat it like it was going out of season...oh wait, we are getting close to the end of "good fruit season." This is concerning to me!

Workouts: Ha!

Best Moment of the Week: Our family getaway to San Diego! Last Friday, Huston and I flew to San Diego to meet Ryan {he'd been out there since Wednesday for work}. I was so nervous to get through security with a toddler {since I have to opt out of the x-ray machine being pregnant and they've always made me do the full pat-down when traveling alone}, but they just let H and I walk through the metal detector like we owned the place. It was much easier than I expected {thank you, Lord....because believe me, I'd been praying about it!}.  Anyway, H did really well on the flight {both to and from}, much to this momma's relief! We visited the San Diego Zoo, spent some time with Ryan's aunt and uncle, and experienced Huston's first beach/ocean adventure. It was a fabulous weekend!

This little man did exceptionally well on the flights!

Someone was excited to be reunited with Daddy!

Ob-SESSED with Gee-raffs!

Huston's first trip to the beach/ocean

Mood: A little bit of everything: happy, anxious, stressed, grateful...all in an hour's time!

Nursery: I've started looking online for bedding ideas...does that count?

Movement: Our little man is on the move more often than not...and his kicks/jabs are becoming more obvious from the outside. You can see the surface of my skin move most of the time when he's wiggling all around.

Wedding Rings:  On.

Belly Button: In.

Looking Forward To: Hearing the little guy's heart beat at our monthly OB appointment next week.  Oh!...and I'm also excited to have Lindsay and Travis come visit us over the long Labor Day weekend!

Bumpdate 2.0: 26 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 26 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Total weight gain:  This isn't looking good...I think I'm up 24-25 lbs.

Stretch marks?: None that I've seen!

Symptoms: I think the babe must be laying directly on my bladder because the frequency of my trips to the bathroom {especially at night} is increasing!

Maternity clothes?:  Yes, yes and double yes!

Sleep:  Ugh..pretty sure H is experiencing some separation anxiety with the start of school, and that seems to be impacting his sleep. Plus, he had a fever {from cutting his 2-year molars???} all that just added to the issue. Needless to say, we didn't get much rest over the weekend.  Huston and I ended up sleeping on the couch Friday, Saturday and Sunday night...but the little man has slept all night in his crib both nights since then. lack of restful sleep hasn't had anything to do with pregnancy, but I sure do feel like I'm riding the struggle bus and could definitely use a nap!

Cravings:  Watermelon, watermelon and more watermelon. I ate soooo much watermelon throughout Huston's pregnancy, but now that he is obsessed with it, I haven't really eaten that much this time around because I always save the "sandia" {Spanish for watermelon} for him...until this past week. I've been eating more and more and more because H's preference is now can-a-mel {canteloupe}. I just can't get enough watermelon!

Workouts: Ha! Who has time to workout?!!? A couple of days last week, Huston actually asked to go "walky" in his stroller {usually he wants to walk on his own so it take 45 minutes to get around the block!}, so we ventured out for short walks. Other than that, my only physical activity is constantly chasing after a very busy two-year-old!

Best/Worst Moment of the Week: The best and the worst moments of the week kind of tie together this week. H came down with a fever last Friday night, and he suffered from it all day Saturday and off and on throughout the day on Sunday {needless to say, I don't think he was too disappointed that he couldn't go to school on Monday!}. That's obviously the worst moment of the week. We are pretty certain the fever was due to teething {cutting 2-year molars} because he never had any other symptoms besides being fussy and clingy to when his fever broke on Sunday and he seemed to be feeling perfectly well, we took him to the Practice Tee so he could "hit balls." He is seriously obsessed with golf, and just watching him enjoy something that his daddy loves too was the best moment of the week.

Nursery: In all honesty, we've done nothing in terms of preparedness for this sweet baby boy's arrival. After Labor Day weekend we are going to start H's transition to his big boy room upstairs, and then we can get going on design and decor for Baby Boy's nursery!

Movement: Still moving and shaking about the same as he was last week...but I feel like some of his kicks and jabs are more startling these days...almost as if he's kicking harder and making me jump when he moves.

Wedding Rings:  On

Belly Button: In

Looking Forward To: Although I'm incredibly nervous to fly by myself with a two-year-old, I am looking forward to our long weekend in San Diego! H and I leave Friday afternoon to meet Ryan in San Diego for some quality family time...and a visit to the zoo!

Bumpdate 2.0: 25 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 25 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Total weight gain:  ~22 lbs.

Stretch marks?: None so far...I try to remember to lather on the Bio-Oil each night, but #PregnancyBrain often gets in the way. I am soooo forgetful these days!

Symptoms: I feel like the constant tiredness/exhaustion I felt in the first trimester is starting to creep back in...but it could just be a result of being run-down after being on the Go-Go-Go for the past couple of weeks. I plan to lay low this upcoming weekend with hopes of catching up on a lil' R&R {wishful thinking with a two-year-old running around???}.

Maternity clothes?:  100%  maternity clothes during the day...and I've been sleeping in stretchy shorts and the biggest t-shirts of Ryan's that I can find!

Sleep:  Ryan dug out the Snoogle pregnancy pillow this past week, and it's made a HUGE difference in my comfort level/ability to sleep well. I didn't get much use out of the pillow with my first pregnancy, but I'm loving it this time around!

Cravings:  Rice Krispies cereal. While cereal has been a craving throughout this entire pregnancy, the Rice Krispies aspect is new. I made Rice Krispie treats for the favor bags for H's birthday party, and decided to eat  some of the leftover Rice Krispies for breakfast one morning. That was all it took...a new obsession was born. Now I typically have Rice Krispies twice per day!

Best Moment of the Week: Huston's 2nd birthday party! We hosted a Mickey Mouse themed birthday party for our little guy this past weekend, and we all had so much fun! Huston had a ball playing with all the littles, and we had a great time catching up with family and friends.

Worst Moment of the Week: Huston started "school" {a Mother's Day Out program two days per week} at Spanish Schoolhouse on Monday...and it was hard on all of us. He's never been to daycare outside of staying at home with Maria, so of course he was terrified and cried nearly the whole time. The teachers have assured me that it will get easier each day that he attends...but it will take a couple of weeks. It sure is hard on my heart to know he's upset...but we know the social interaction and programming will be good for him! We're just praying he starts to feel comfortable and like it sooner rather than later!

Mood:  The milestones with H {2nd birthday, first day of MDO} have left me a little on the overly-emotional side this past week...but I've been very well aware of it. For the most part, I've been happy and excited to celebrate these events...but it's such a bittersweet realization in these moments to try to accept that my baby boy {soon-to-be big brother} is growing up so fast!  I've been able to keep the tears in check for the most part...but there have been a couple of occasions when the floodgates flew open!

Movement: Our tiny babe has started kicking and jabbing when big brother seems to be smashing him when sitting on my lap/lounging on my belly! The little guy's movements are becoming more frequent and the point they wake me up in the night. It's totally ok though because it gives me a sense of peace to feel him moving around in there!

Looking Forward To: Although I'm looking forward to it, I'm also slightly terrified...we booked our flights this week for Huston and I to fly to San Diego to meet Ryan after he finishes a work trip. Of course I'm nervous about flying alone with a toddler, but my biggest concern is how we're going to get through security. Security is a nightmare in the first place, but being pregnant makes it an even bigger challenge because I opt out of the x-ray machine for a pat-down screening. I'm not sure what H is going to do while they go through the pat-down routine, but I'm sure the TSA agents have experience with these situations...right?!!?

Happy 2nd Birthday, Huston!

Happy Happy Happy 2nd Birthday, Little Man! There truly aren't words to express how much you've changed our hearts and lives for the better. Today we celebrate a milestone, how much you've grown and learned over the past two years...but it's a little bittersweet as we can clearly see the reality of just how fast time flies. Thank you for this incredible ride you've taken us on thus far; we look forward to all that the future has in store for you and our family! The love we have for you is immeasurable...truly unconditional!

Happy Birthday, Huston!

Bumpdate 2.0: 24 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 24 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Total weight gain:  ~16 lbs.

Stretch marks?: None so far...lathering on Bio-Oil every night.

Symptoms: The "charlie horse" leg cramps during the night have set in. I looked back to my bumpdates from my pregnancy with Huston, and they seemed to hit about this same time then. Oh my, do those things hurt in the middle of the night...O.U.C.H!

Maternity clothes?:  All day, every day. The stretchier, the better!

Sleep:  Sleep is good...except when those charlie horse cramps hit! It takes a long time to fall back to sleep after my leg feels like it may fall off from cramping.

Best Moment of the Week: We had our monthly OB appointment this past Monday, and it was music to our ears to hear our baby boy's strong, healthy heartbeat.  The little guy is growing right on track...measuring just between 23-24 weeks.

Worst Moment of the Week: Leaving my little family in practically the middle of the night {4:30 am} to catch a flight to Chicago for a work trip. I'm hopeful this will be my last work travel until after baby boy arrives!

Mood: I'd like to blame the pregnancy for my recently over-emotional state of mind...but I don't think it's all tied to that. I've been a roller-coaster of emotions as we approach Huston's 2nd birthday. It's all so bittersweet. I am so happy and proud of how much he's grown and learned over the past two years...but I can't help but be somewhat saddened by the realization of just how rapidly time flies. It seems like yesterday when he was a tiny baby in my arms...and now I'm preparing for another tiny baby. When I sit back and think about how blessed we are, I am truly brought to tears. We've got an incredible very much to be thankful for...and I try hard not to take any of it for granted.

Nursery: progress since last week. The bedding and the bed rail for H's "big boy bed" has arrived...but we're not quite ready to make the transition to the upstairs bedroom just yet. As soon as we make that big move, then we'll start to tackle the nursery.

Movement: This little guy is a WIGGLE.WORM! I used to only feel his kicks and jabs in my sides, but I've recently been able to feel him up near my rib cage. He's moving and shaking, that's for sure!

Looking Forward To: Although it's bittersweet, I'm really looking forward to celebrating Huston's birthday this weekend. We're having a Mickey Mouse themed party at the house for family and friends.

Bumpdate 2.0: 23 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 23 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Total weight gain:  I haven't stepped on the scale in over a week.  I guess I'll find out the official weight gain at our OB appointment next week.

Stretch marks?: None that I can see...and I've been so bad about remembering to apply the Bio-Oil and other preventative serums...must get better about that because I can tell the skin on my belly is really starting to stretch out.

Symptoms: I mention above that I can tell the skin on my belly is starting to stretch out...and I can tell this because it gets extremely itchy!

Maternity clothes?:  Most definitely!

Sleep:  I'm going to have to dig out the pregnancy pillow that I bought the last time around because it's starting to get uncomfortable to sleep...and just putting a normal pillow between my legs or behind my back is no longer doing to the trick to make me comfortable. I don't think I really got much use out of that pregnancy pillow last time, but I'm hoping it gives me some comfort and support this time around...update to come!

Mood: I've felt the roller coaster of emotions a bit this week, but I think it's more from being tired/run-down than from the pregnancy hormones. I felt totally sad when our vacation came to an end and it was time to go back to the reality of the daily grind. It's like we looked forward to something for so long and we had such a fabulous time being on the lake with family...and then it was just OVER way too fast! It was hard getting back to our normal schedule, but once we found that consistent routine, my mood seemed to perk up a bit!

Movement: This baby boy is a mover and a shaker! And his movements are like clockwork! It's like an automatic guarantee that when I feel him kicking/jabbing, I can look at my watch and it will be between 2:30 - 3:30 in the afternoon or between 8:30 - 9:30 at night. He's starting to move a little more outside of those time frames as the days go by, but I can feel him wiggling during those hours. Do you think that means it's going to be a piece of cake to get this little guy on a strict schedule once he enters this world?!!?

Nursery: Zip.Zero.Zilch! We've done absolutely NOTHING to get started on a room for this sweet baby boy! Well, I guess that's not totally true...we've ordered some bedding and other stuff in preparation to move Huston upstairs to a "big boy room."  We're planning to start that transition after his birthday in a couple of maybe that will kick us into gear on getting started with decorating the nursery for "Baby Brudder."

Best Moment of the Week: Out little getaway to Hot Springs/Lake Hamilton, Arkansas. We met my mom, Landon's family and Kiley's family for a long weekend on the lake...and it was perfection! We had a house right on the lake, and we couldn't have asked for better weather. It was a fabulous little vacation. All of the littles had a blast...and the parents all enjoyed themselves too! So.Much.Fun!

Looking Forward To: Our next OB appointment {next Monday}. At this point in the game, there is no sweeter sound than that precious baby boy's heart beat!
