Bumpdate 2.0: 31 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 31 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Total weight gain:  I think it's getting close to 30 lbs...too much for this point in the game!

Stretch marks?: Haven't seen any!

Symptoms: No new symptoms...other than a big 'ole heavy belly that continues to grow a little every.single.day! I've pretty much committed to wearing flat shoes or wedges these days because heels {worn longer than a couple of hours} result in a very achy back!

Maternity clothes?:  All day, every day...the looser the better!

Sleep:  Sleep hasn't been great these days...but I don't think that has anything to do with pregnancy. Huston doesn't really sleep well when we're away from home, so I had fun wrestling with him for four nights as he flipped and flopped all over the bed while we were at Grammy's house. It seems like we've just been crazy busy, running around like maniacs ALL.DAY.LONG in recent days, so I have no trouble falling asleep once my head hits the pillow. And I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have any trouble staying asleep if it weren't for the two-year-old drunk octopus swimming around in bed next to me all night!

Cravings:  Nothing new that I can think of in the craving category. Still eating lots of fruit and cereal. I've switched the toast up to bagels though. Perhaps I should consider reducing my carb intake!

Best Moment of the Week: We got to see our little guy via sonogram yesterday! They're estimating he weighs 3 lbs., 4 oz...and his little hear rate was 142 beats per minute. He was cooperating well, so we got to see him from every angle. All of his little organs looked perfect, and he seems to be developing right on track. My amniotic fluid was a bit on the high side, so we'll do another sonogram in four weeks to re-check that. Until then, I need to lay off foods with high sugar content {or essentially everything I'm currently consuming!}. That's ok though...anything for the babe!

Baby Martin 2.0: 31-Week sonogram

Worst Moment of the Week: We said our final goodbyes to my granddad last weekend, and I'm happy to say that his funeral was truly a celebration of his life...90 years of a life very well-lived. Although we were somewhat prepared for his death given his age and health conditions, it's never easy to say goodbye. Finding the silver lining in a sad time, we are very grateful for the time we got to spend with family and friends as we remembered and celebrated Granddad's life...

Mood: I think my mood has been pretty stable {sounds kinda funny coming from the pregnant woman} for all that we've been through the past couple of weeks. Yeah, I've shed a lot of tears...but I've also shared lots of laughs with family and friends.

Nursery: We've made ZERO progress on his room in the past week. In fact, Huston is still sleeping in his room because he's just not quite ready to make that leap to his "big boy bed" upstairs. We're not going to push it...H is warming up to the idea of moving upstairs, so hopefully he'll be fully on board with it within the next couple of weeks. We've decided that it'll be better if it is his decision to move rather than having him think "brudder" is just taking over his old room. Who knows if this is the right decision??? I guess time will tell!

Movement: As we were getting ready to leave Kansas after my granddad's funeral, my mom felt the little guy move as she gave me a hug! The timing couldn't have been more perfect...it really helped lighten and brighten a sad moment!

Wedding Rings:  On.

Belly Button: In.

Looking Forward To: Getting out the tiny baby clothes we've got stored away from when H was a newborn! Even though the boys' birthdays will be opposite seasons, I'm hoping the teeny-tiny newborn stuff we used with H will work for baby brother. Hopefully we'll get started on going through this stuff this coming weekend!

Bumpdate 2.0: 30 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 30 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Total weight gain:  I'm not totally sure about this, but I think I'm approaching the 30-lb. weight gain mark. You know, the amount that you're supposed to gain throughout the entire pregnancy...and I still have two months to go!

Stretch marks?: I haven't seen any stretch marks...but the skin on my belly is getting tighter and tighter. I need to get back to focusing on applying the Bio Oil every night because I truly believe that stuff worked during my first pregnancy.

Symptoms: The "charlie horse" cramps in my legs during the night haven't let up at all. I've been feeling more tired, but I don't know if that's just part of the "third trimester exhaustion" or just a side effect of being on the go 24/7!

Maternity clothes?:  Yes, of course! I'm on the hunt for some fall maternity clothes because I didn't need anything like that during my first pregnancy. Also, need to find something that is at least somewhat flattering to snap a few maternity photos/family photos in a few weeks!

Sleep:  It's starting to become difficult to get comfortable due to the big 'ole belly. If I'm having trouble finding a comfy position with the Snoogle Pillow, then I usually just move to the couch...which, let's be honest, is kind of perfect simply because it's directly below an AC vent.

Cravings:  Still eating all the fruit I can find. Oh, and lots of cereal and toast too...for meals other than breakfast! #EatWhatIsEasy

Best Moment of the Week: Tiny baby was kicking up a storm one night, so we decided to get out the Doppler fetal monitor a friend let me borrow to let H hear "brudder's" heartbeat. Just a few seconds of listening to the heartbeat, he said, "Bubba?....Baby's heartbeat!" My heart completely and totally melted at that very moment.

Worst Moment of the Week: The worst moment of this past week was definitely the worst moment of the entire pregnancy...worst moment of the entire year. I received news yesterday that my Granddad {Huston's namesake} passed away. He had fallen last week and fractured his hip forcing him to spend several days in the hospital, but he had returned to long-term care to be with my grandma on Monday and seemed to be doing much better. Although he lived a full life of 90 years and had recently been struggling with dementia, it is still heartbreaking to lose someone you're so close to and love so much!

Mood: I think I hit the peak of "pregnancy moodiness" this past week. Ryan laughed one night when I was having one of those terrible leg cramps {he says he was laughing in his sleep and didn't really know what was going on}...but I got SO.MAD at him and started having a pity party for myself because "he just didn't understand!" I woke up the next morning, and I was STILL mad at him for not being more sympathetic. I got over it before we went to work though. Poor husband!

Nursery: No real update here.  His bedding is ordered, and we've picked out a name sign for his room...but we haven't ordered it yet because we haven't 100% made the final decision for his name. SO.MUCH.TO.DO!

Movement:  He is still a little wiggle worm...moving around more often than not. His movements are now clearly noticeable from the outside...you can see the surface of my skin protrude or "roll" as he moves a leg or arm from one side to the other.

Wedding Rings:  On.

Belly Button: In.

Looking Forward To: Seeing our little guy on the sonogram screen next week!  We haven't seen him since our 18-week OB appointment.

Bumpdate 2.0: 29 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 29 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Total weight gain:  I don't know the number because I avoid the scale at all costs {even when Huston is playing on it}...but I know it's too much for this point in the game!

Stretch marks?: None that I've seen.

Symptoms: Holy night-time leg cramps! They're TERRIBLE...every.single.night! I've been eating bananas and drinking as much water as my body can hold...but it doesn't seem to be helping! O.U.C.H.

Maternity clothes?:  24/7! Another mom in the neighborhood sold me a few pieces of fall maternity clothes...so at least I'll have a couple of things to wear when the weather cools off!

Sleep:  I'm sleeping well...but I can't seem to get enough of it. I'm up at least twice each night to go to the bathroom, but I think that's just par for the course at this point in the game.

Cravings:  Nothing new that I can think of...still loving ALL.THE.SWEET.STUFF!

Mood: I think I've been pretty even-keeled this past week. I might get a little grumpy toward the end of the day when I start to feel like I just can't keep my eyes open another minute...and those seem to be the days when Huston has ZERO interest in going to bed! For the most part though, I've been feeling emotionally stable!  :)

Nursery: Bedding is officially ordered! I'm so excited we've actually done something to move forward with Baby Boy's nursery!

Movement: He's a mover and a shaker...definitely waking me up a few times each night with kicks and jabs.

Wedding Rings:  On.

Belly Button: In.

Looking Forward To: Celebrating my 36th birthday tomorrow!

Bumpdate 2.0: 28 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 28 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Total weight gain:  Too much! Way too much for this point in the game. At yesterday's doctor appointment, the scale indicated I'd gained 27 pounds. Surely I was wearing heavy shoes..or maybe holding my purse???

Stretch marks?: Don't think so! At least none that I've seen...but, then again, I haven't exactly had the time {or desire!} to spend searching for unwanted marks on my skin!

Symptoms: The killer charlie horse cramps in my calves continue to plague my sleep...but they've decreased to just a few times per week rather than every.single.night! No new pregnancy-related symptoms I can think of.

Maternity clothes?:  All day, every day. I'm starting to worry about what I'm going to wear this fall when it cools down. With Huston being born in August, I don't have any maternity clothes for cooler temps!

Sleep:  It's getting harder and harder to find comfortable positions for sleep with this big 'ole belly. I'm definitely using the pregnancy snoogle pillow much more than I did with Huston's pregnancy...in fact, I'm not sure I'd be able to fall asleep without the support of it taking some of the pressure off my back/belly.

Cravings:  Still loving ALL.THE.FRUIT...but I've especially been craving apple wedges with fruit dip {cream cheese and marshmallow cream} or caramel. It's probably a miracle I passed my glucose test at yesterday's OB appointment!

Best Moment of the Week: Of course the very best moment of the week was hearing the strong, healthy heart beat of our baby boy at yesterday's OB appointment.  BUT...we also enjoyed spending the long Labor Day weekend with our fabulous friends, Lindsay and Travis. The drove down to from Kansas to spend the weekend with us, and we had a fabulous time...really doing nothing at all!
Travis and H hitting some golf balls while Linds got fit for new clubs.

Date night for the grown ups!

Sooo grateful for this girl!

Worst Moment of the Week:
H has had a terrible cough...but only at night. We finally decided that it wasn't going away and got him in to see Dr. Diana yesterday. Turns out, our poor little guy has an ear infection...and all the drainage that goes along with that is causing the coughing.  To look at him, you'd never know he's under the weather...

Workouts: Zip.Zero.Zilch...unless you count chasing a VERY ACTIVE toddler around {which is more activity than anything I did during my pregnancy with Huston!}.

Mood: I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed with all that we have to do before our little guy arrives, so sometimes I might be just a little anxious/on edge. Nothing too crazy, though...right, Husband?!!?

Nursery: We've narrowed down a few options for crib bedding!

Movement: I think this lil' midget man is practicing kick-boxing in there. He's moving ALL.THE.TIME...and his movements are now strong enough that they wake me up if I'm sleeping. It seems like he's responsive when his daddy talks to him each night before we go to sleep. It melts my heart to feel him {and see the surface of my skin move} when Ryan is chatting with him.

Wedding Rings:  On.

Belly Button: In.

Looking Forward To: A low-key weekend at home...and hopefully picking out crib bedding for our baby boy!
