Bumpdate 2.0: 35 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 35 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Name: Sterling Alan

Total weight gain:  ~33  lbs.

Stretch marks?: No visible stretch marks...but that line down the middle of my belly {linea nigra} is becoming a bit more prominent!

Symptoms: I think the extra weight I'm carrying around is starting to affect my joints...seems like there's a lot more popping and cracking when I get up in the mornings or after I've been sitting at my desk for awhile {or could this just be a sign of old age?}

Maternity clothes?:  ALL.THE.TIME! And I have a very limited selection of maternity clothes for the cooler weather {and I refuse to buy more for the last month}, so the few that I do have will likely be on a pretty tight rotation schedule for the next month!

Sleep:  It's getting harder and harder to sleep because I can't find a comfortable position. That snoogle pillow that I didn't have much use for during Huston's pregnancy has become a life saver this time around!

Cravings:  Still on the "breakfast food diet," which consists of a lot of cereal and toast!

Best/Worst Moment of the Week: This past Saturday we took family/maternity photos along with Huston's two-year-old pics. This is a combo best/worst moment of the week because the photo shoot actually went much smoother than I'd expected with a two-year-old who usually has no interest in {and actually tries to avoid} the camera {Best Moment!}...but after rain was predicted all week, it actually turned out to be unseasonably {ridiculously} HOTTT, and we nearly sweat to death in our fall clothes! A BIG thanks to Emily Ann Photography for working with us and squeezing all of our photo needs into one session. We can't wait to see the pics! Here are few preview rough-edit photos from our session...

Nursery: Huston is officially 100% moved out of the nursery and upstairs into his "big boy room," so we can fully focus on personalizing and making the nursery perfect for Baby Sterling! I did go through all of H's teeny tiny clothes and picked what I think will work for Sterling {opposite seasons :(}, so all of that is freshly washed and hanging in his closet. It's crazy how you forget just how tiny newborns are until you look at the little clothes.

Movement: This little guy is VERY.ACTIVE! He moves around more than Huston ever did, if memory serves me right! He's big enough now that when he moves, you can clearly see {and feel} it from the outside. I was holding Huston perched on top of the bump the other day when "Brudder" gave a hard kick/jab. H didn't know what to think....but kept saying, "What's that, Momma?"

Wedding Rings:  On...most of the time. They seemed to be cutting off the circulation in my fingers earlier this week, so I left them at home one morning when I went to work. I was able to get them on easily after work though so I'm thinking the swelling might have something to do with the crazy weather changes/humidity we've been having rather than solely due to pregnancy.

Belly Button: In.

Looking Forward To: Our sonogram OB appointment next week {always excited to see the little guy on the screen}! Because my amniotic fluid levels were a little high at 30-week sono, Dr. Jacoby wants to check on it again. Since he didn't seem to be too concerned about it, I'm excited to get another little look at this babe before he makes his debut into the world!

Bumpdate 2.0: 34 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 34 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Name: Sterling Alan

Total weight gain:  ~30 pounds

Stretch marks?: I haven't seen any stretch marks, but I'm starting to see a faint line down the center of my belly {linea nigra}.

Symptoms: I'm starting to hands and feet are really all I notice, but at the end of the day, you can definitely tell my fingers and toes are all puffy with fluid. Ryan and Maria both noticed that the bump really grew overnight a couple of days ago...the considerate hubby tried to back-peddle and later tell me, "No, babe, I think it's just the shirt you were wearing that made the baby bump look so much bigger today." His thoughtfulness made me laugh...but there's no denying that there was a BIG growth spurt in my belly this past week.

Maternity clothes?:  What else? This bump is getting B.I.G. and requires super-stretchy maternity clothes 24/7.

Sleep:  Ohhhh....sleep! I just can't seem to get enough of it! I think part of it is just being busy and chasing around a 2-year-old...but I also attribute part of the tiredness/exhaustion to growing/carrying around this little munchkin inside my body! Since we've transition Huston to his "big boy room," I've been laying down with him until he falls asleep...which usually involves Momma falling asleep/catching a little 10-15 minute nap late in the evening. I've been trying to be in bed by 10:00 - 10:30, and I'm pretty certain I am sound asleep within two or three minutes of my head hitting the pillow.  H still isn't real sure about sleeping upstairs in his big bed, so I typically have to go up there around midnight or 1:00 to soothe him back to sleep...and I usually just end up crashing in the guest bedroom upstairs {because I happen to love that bed the most of all the beds in our house!}

Cravings:  I've veered away from the sugary cereal that I just couldn't get enough of {Fruit Loops, Cinnamon Toast Crunch}, and I've moved on to Honey Bunches of Oats. Cereal is still my meal of choice {for all three meals} most days!

Best Moment of the Week: We went to Family Night at the Dallas Arboretum, and seeing Huston run around absolutely loving every little thing about the pumpkin village just totally melted my heart! This year's pumpkin village theme at the Arboretum is "The Wizard of Oz," so of course it was the best pumpkin village I've ever seen! {There's no place like home!}

Mood: I'm feeling total mixed emotions. One minute I'm ready for his arrival, and the next minute I'm nearly having an anxiety attack over all the things left to check off the "To Do" list. I just want everything to be done and perfect before he gets here...even though I know there are things we're going to forget.  I'm 150% excited to meet our sweet baby boy, but I'm also still terrified as to whether or not we'll even know what to do once he's here...not to mention the genuine fear I have of the whole labor/delivery process. If there's one thing I truly am sure of, it's that this little guy will not lack for love.

Nursery: I'd say we've made in I've taken the bedding out of the box that it arrived in and placed it in the crib (still wrapped in packaging for the most part). Almost all of Huston's "stuff" has been moved out of the nursery and up to his big-boy room, so we can now make it "Sterling's room." Oh! And I {actually Grammy} ordered a fabulous sign with his name on it that will be the central decorating piece in the nursery...can't wait for it to arrive!

Movement: At one point during this past week, I think the little guy was physically kicking me in the ribs. It was so painful I thought I was going to cry...and just when I thought he'd move, he'd give me another swift kick causing me to double over in pain. I think it even worried Ryan a little bit that I might be going into labor. At one point he said, " many weeks along are you again?" Thankfully Baby Boy adjusted his position later that day and hasn't returned to jabbing me in the ribs!

Wedding Rings:  On.

Belly Button: In...but it is really flattening out!

Looking Forward To: Getting a few maternity photos taken this weekend in conjunction with Huston's 2-year-old pictures and our fall family pics. I'm not a huge fan of being pregnant, but I know it's important to document this miraculous phase of life with some photos.

Bumpdate 2.0: 33 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 33 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Name: Sterling Alan

Total weight gain:  ~30 lbs.

Stretch marks?: Thankfully none that I can see!

Symptoms: No new symptoms to speak of...just the third trimester hugeness. This belly is getting big and a bulky...

Maternity clothes?:  What else?!!? Even my large KU t-shirts that I sleep in are starting to get tight on the bump. I think it's about time to switch to Ryan's big t-shirts!

Sleep:  Soooooo tired...ALL.THE.TIME! I think I'm back to feeling how I felt {exhaustion wise} in the first trimester...maybe even more tired now than during those first 12 weeks. I'm so incredibly thankful the sickness isn't accompanying the tiredness this time around! I'm sleeping well for the most part...unless Huston wakes up in the night, which has been more frequent than usual as we continue the transition to his big boy bed. I'm still able to get comfy with the assistance of my Snoogle Pillow and a couple of other pillows supporting me {give me ALL the pillows!}, so I'm also grateful for that! Let's just extend the day a couple more hours so I can squeeze in a little more sleep....good idea???

Cravings:  Nothing really. To be honest, I haven't really had much of an appetite this past week. Of course I'm eating, but nothing really sounds I just go with whatever is easiest or most convenient. Trying to reduce sugar intake since the doctor suggested doing that after we found out my amniotic fluid was a bit on the high level.

Best Moment of the Week: Monday was Columbus Day, so Ryan and I were off work and Huston didn't have school. We had a fabulous family day together! We spent the morning and lunch at Preston Trail Farms pumpkin patch.

Another great moment of the week was Grammy coming down to spend the weekend with us. We can't thank her enough for coming to the rescue when this momma was sick and needing a little help and rest! She truly saved the day {weekend!}. We attended Huston's school picnic on Friday evening...and she even helped us check a few things off the list in preparation for "Baby Brudder's" arrival!  Thank you, Grammy...

Mood: I think it might be possible that I've been a bit cranky this past week. It seems like little things are aggravating me more than usual, and I'm letting them get to me. I don't really realize any of this until well after the fact...but I try to be quick to apologize for my moody behavior.

Nursery: Progress...we're making progress! All of Huston's decor is now off the wall and moved upstairs to his "big boy room." We still need to clean out the closet and dresser drawers...but this momma is a little lazy, and it seems so much easier to dress him/change him downstairs where we spend most of our time! Perhaps we'll get to that this weekend! I received an email that his bedding was complete and had shipped, so I'm very excited for that to arrive in a couple of days!

Movement: His movements can't be missed these days. Huston felt him kick the other night when I was holding him on top of the big 'ole baby bump. He looked at me kind of funny and said, "What that, Momma?!!?"

Wedding Rings:  On.

Belly Button: In.

Looking Forward To: Seeing our baby boy via sonogram in a couple of weeks. Since my level of amniotic fluid was a little on the high side, we're doing another sono check at our 35-week OB appointment. Since Dr. Jacoby didn't seem to be concerned about the amniotic fluid {just wanted to monitor it}, I'm definitely not complaining about another opportunity to see the little guy on the screen before he makes his entrance into the world!

Bumpdate 2.0: 32 Weeks

Due Date: December 1, 2017

How far along?: 32 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!

Name: Sterling Alan

Total weight gain:  I'm not stepping on the scale until I have to at next week's OB appointment. We've now graduated to OB check-ups every two weeks, so I'll be well aware of the weight gain in the coming weeks!

Stretch marks?: None that I've seen.

Symptoms: Geographic Tongue. I wouldn't have had a clue about this or even known to look for it, but I happened to notice my tongue looked a little odd when I was trying to look at my throat to see if it was swollen/inflamed. Anyway, I noticed that my tongue looked like it had a map on it with several little bumps on the sides {no pain at all}. At this point I vaguely remembered getting my teeth cleaned during my pregnancy with Huston and the hygienist asking me if I'd ever been told I had "geographic tongue." I kind of freaked out about it because that was the first I'd ever heard...but then I totally forgot about it. Fast forward to now, and I googled "geographic tongue while pregnant" and found out that it's a pretty common symptom. Like last time, it should go away when my hormones go back to normal after the baby is born.

Maternity clothes?:  What else?!!? All day, every day! Comfort is king these days!

Sleep:  Sleep has been minimal this past week with lots of factors coming into play: Daddy out of town for work trip, Huston being sick and needing extra cuddles and attention from Momma {especially at bedtime and any time he wakes up in the middle of the night, which has been much more frequent than usual!}, and me being under the weather myself. Needless to say, I most definitely wouldn't complain if I could catch a few additional hours of sleep in the coming days!

Cravings:  Animal crackers! I bought these to pack in H's lunches for school, but it turns out he "no likey!" Soooo...Momma has been eating them non-stop!

Best Moment of the Week: Huston and I decided to welcome the Fall 2017 season by visiting Storybook Ranch's pumpkin patch...

Worst Moment of the Week: I've been sick with a sore throat/cough/congestion most of this week. Poor lil' Huston was sick at the beginning of the week too. And this all happened while Daddy was out of town for a work trip! I tried to go to work Monday morning, but I ended up leaving mid-morning to go home and try to sleep for a couple of hours {while Maria was there} before Huston's doctor appointment. I rested for a bit, and then we went to see Dr. Diana. They did a strep and flu test on the little guy, both of which came back negative. His throat was red and inflamed, but they determined it was just our only solution was to continue treating the fever/aches/pain with Tylenol and Motrin. After H's appointment, we stopped by Dr. Jacoby's office because I had this fear I was getting a UTI...which I knew would require lab work before I could get any medication and I wanted to do that while I was in the area. Lucky for me, they squeezed me into Dr. Jacoby's schedule, and he looked at my throat too.  He prescribed me meds for the cough and the possible UTI and sent us on our way. Huston was much better by Tuesday, not so much! I called Dr. Jacoby this morning to let him know the cough was getting worse, so we're going to try different medicine. It's so hard to be sick...but especially when you're pregnant and can't take most medications. Oh well...this too shall pass...that's what I keep telling myself!

Mood: Overwhelmed. It hit me that this baby boy is arriving in 55-ish days...and we have SO.MUCH.TO.DO! I think this realization spurred a bit of panic and anxiety along with total excitement to meet the little man. One thing is for sure, we're going to start taking the "To Do" list a lot more seriously...and getting things checked off!

Movement: He's still moving around quite a lot in there, so he must still have some room. Huston is now obsessed with listening to his heart beat with the Doppler fetal monitor, so we do that most evenings. It's amazing to me how responsive the tiny babe is to voices. It's like he knows when conversation is being directed at him {especially from Daddy and big brother}, and he gives us some BIG kicks and jabs to let us know he's listening and responsive!

Wedding Rings:  On.

Belly Button: In.

Looking Forward To: The arrival of his bedding and transitioning the nursery into "Sterling's room."
